Are You saved?

 With so many people visiting my blog, I have to ask: are you saved? Do you have eternal life? This post will show you how.

First of all, humanity is born into sin. All wrongdoing is sin. God is perfect and cannot be around sin. So our sin has separated us from God.

We cannot save ourselves because of our sinful state. We cannot do anything on this earth to save ourselves, we are separated from God. God would have to make a way for us to get back to Him, so that we could live with Him forever and have eternal life. In His love for humanity, He made a way for us to get to Him, and that was through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me." John 14:6 NIV

God loves us all so much that he made a way through Jesus.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

We are able to come to God through Jesus because Jesus took sin out of the way by dying on the cross. He shed his blood on the cross. His blood takes away the penalty for sin. So now our sin is deleted by his blood and we can come to God. We can enter the "kingdom of God." We can be a part of His kingdom in the spiritual realm. We can live with Him forever in heaven. How? By being "born again", "born of God", "born of the Spirit (Holy Spirit).

John 3:3-6 NIV

[3] Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” [4] “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” [5] Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. [6] Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 

The Holy Spirit makes this happen for us when we believe that Jesus is the Christ or Savior of the world.

1 John 5:1a. NIV [1] Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God,

So, how are we born again by the Holy Spirit? All you have to do is believe in Jesus Christ. Receive Jesus Christ as Lord by believing in His name.

John 1:12-13 NIV [12] Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— [13] children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

So when we believe that Jesus died on the cross to take the penalty of our sin out of the way and that He is the Son of God, and He was raised from the dead by God, we are spiritually born again by the Holy Spirit and we become children of God. Thus, we are saved and have the free gift of eternal life which is through our Lord Jesus Christ.

So, how do we do this?

Romans 10:9-10 NIV [9] If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 

So, say out loud, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and you will be saved. You are born again by the Holy Spirit at the moment you confess and believe. You are added to the kingdom of God, you become a child of God. That's how God saves you. He saves us completely through the finished work of Jesus. All we do is believe it and receive it, by believing in His name. 

God saves us by His grace. We cannot save ourselves. Only He can save us through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV [8] For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— [9] not by works, so that no one can boast. 

By faith, by trusting God at His Word, we accept that Jesus Christ has saved us by His finished work. We have the gift of eternal life forever as we continue to believe and trust in God for it. 

Once you are born again by the Holy Spirit, you repent of your past sins, which is turning to God, and then you get baptized like Jesus told us to do.

Acts 2:38 NIV [38] Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 

Ephesians 1:13-14 NIV

[13] And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, [14] who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. 

Then you're good to go. You're forever a child of God. Never look back. Find a local church and let them help you with your new walk with Jesus. They'll show you the ropes. How to study your Bible. How to pray. How to walk in love. All of it. They'll help.

Always keep the hope of eternal life in your heart by trusting God for it through the finished work of Jesus Christ. That is the hope held out in the gospel. No one can ever take it away from you.

Colossians 1:22-23 NIV

[22] But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— [23] if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant. 

Be faithful the rest of your life, which is trusting in and depending on God for the gift of eternal life which is through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelation 2:10b. KJV [10b.]... be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. 

1 Peter 1:3-4 NIV [3] Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4] and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,

John 10:27-29 NIV [27] My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. [28] I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. [29] My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 

Romans 8:38-39 NIV [38] For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, [39] neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 5:24 KJV[24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. 

So, get saved today!!!! Receive eternal life today!!
