Parable of the Sower

 Jesus taught a parable about a farmer sowing seed on different areas of his field. He sowed some on a path, some on rocky places, some among thorns, and some on good soil. He then explained what it meant. Main point: the seed is the Word of God and how people receive it.

Mark 4:14-20 NIV

[14] The farmer sows the word. [15] Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. [16] Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. [17] But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. [18] Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; [19] but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. [20] Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.” 

Path- Word is sown in people's lives but Satan snatches it out of their heart.

Rocky places- Word is sown but because people are not rooted in it, when troubles come they fall away or walk away from God.

Thorns- Word is sown and received in people's lives, but they get so distracted by worries of life or get deceived by wealth and other things that the Word does not produce anything in their lives.

Good Soil- People hear the Word and do it and it produces results in their lives. By doing the Word, Jesus bears fruit of it in our lives which benefits those around us. How? By the Holy Spirit within us.

Jesus is the Vine, we are the branches. He makes the fruit through our lives for others to eat. He works through us to draw people to the Father so they can be saved.

I have been amongst thorns recently letting "the worries of life" choke the Word. Pray for me please today!! "Beware when you stand lest you fall." I thank God through our Lord Jesus Christ that the Holy Spirit showed me my problem which was being consumed with worry in my life.

Main lesson is to read and study the Word and then DO IT so Jesus will produce a crop in our lives by the Holy Spirit in us. 

Remember: all of it is so that Jesus will work through us to save others and God will be glorified because of it.
