This blog is made to "spur one another on to love and good deeds." So bear that in mind. Jesus was so serious in my Bible study tonight with this word of warning. So brace yourselves.
Let me preface this teaching in saying what Romans 13:10 says in paraphrase. Love never does any harm to other people ever. So love satifies all the requirements of the Bible.
This makes sense because God is love and as Christians, we represent Jesus Christ in our lives. So the word of warning in the text will make sense because we always want to love people and never do any harm to them because we represent Jesus.
Mark 9:42 NIV
[42] “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.
There it is.
-Never cause those who believe in Jesus to stumble or cause them to sin.
(Romans 14 -15:13 gives a complete teaching on this.)
-Never be the one that causes someone to stumble and fall into sin.
-Never be the one who brings any sin into someone else's life.
Jesus said that sin and things that make people stumble must come into world.(Seems He said that because of our freewill to choose good or evil.) But "woe to the person through whom they come."
Matthew 18:7 NIV
[7] Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!
That "woe" part coming from Jesus doesn't sound good at all. So don't ever let it be you or me!!!
Never ever bring sin into someone's life or cause them to sin or stumble because of our words or deeds.
