Treasures In Heaven?

Wow! Everyone. The Holy Spirit showed me this tonight and I have to give it to you. Wowwwwww!

I've been studying the book of Mark. Tonight I studied the famous story about "The Rich Young Ruler."

The Holy Spirit made one verse stick out to me and then He gave me an avalanche of knowledge. From one verse it petered out into what I will type now.

Here's the account:

Mark 10:17-22 NIV

[17] As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” [18]  “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. [19] You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’” [20] “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.” [21] Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” [22] At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.

The one verse that stuck out to me was verse 21:

Mark 10:21 NIV

[21] Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

What stuck out was "give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven."

Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21:

[19]  “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. [20] But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. [21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

So tonight He showed us. So, how do we store up "treasures in heaven?" By giving to the poor and needy. (Can you say "mind blown?")

Then Jesus said in verse 21 "Then come follow me."

-How do we follow Jesus? Deny self.

Luke 9:23 NIV[23] Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

It all makes sense. We have to "deny self" or not be selfish to follow him.

When we are not selfish, then we can store up treasures in heaven by giving to the poor and needy. Give our money to them. Help them!!!

This is the "good works God planned in advance for us to do!!!" (Eph. 2:10)

This is how we assure our hearts before Him. By "loving in action and in truth!!!"(I. Jn. 3:18).

At this moment, you might say "I can't do that! I'm poor myself!!" I hear you. But remember the poor widow's story?

Mark 12:41-44 NIV

[41] Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. [42] But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. [43] Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. [44] They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

See? She wasn't selfish. She gave all she had. Despite her poverty she gave to help. So we can too!!!

Ok, now get this....

People are always talking about money and they say, " You better spend it because you can't take it with you when you die."

After tonight, I learned that is not true. You CAN take it with you!!! You can convert real, tangible, temporary money into eternal treasure stored up in heaven. How? By giving it to the poor and needy!!

Convert real money into eternal treasure in heaven by giving it to the poor and needy. Wowwwww.

So by not being selfish, by loving in deed and in truth, we can do the good works that God planned in advance for us to do, by using our money, even if we are poor, to help the poor and needy.

Thus, converting real money into real eternal treasure that will be laid up in heaven for us, waiting for us.

Deny self and follow Jesus!!! Wowwwww.

This is so exciting! I still can't believe the Holy Spirit showed me this. I'm still blown away!!!! Let this transform your life.

Wow.....

NOTE: Be sure and take care of yourself while storing up treasures in heaven.

Philippians 2:4 NKJV

[4] Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

Now get out there and start storing up treasures in heaven everyday!!!!!
