Jesus Our Example

Today in Luke, there is a simple account with huge ramifications. John tells us that as we are in God we should walk as Jesus did. He is the greatest example on how to live out our lives here, being members of His body, the Church. So we should follow Him by "walking" or some translations say "live" as He did.

1 John 2:6 NIV

[6] Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

So lets look at one account and see what we can learn from it. We are in Luke 18:35-43:

Luke 18:35-43 NIV

[35] As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. [36] When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. [37] They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” [38] He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” [39] Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” [40] Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, [41] “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. [42] Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”

[43] Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

If you noticed above, I singled out verse 43 because that is where the results are. After Jesus healed the man and he could see, he praised God. The people who witnessed it starting praising God also.

In this passage, Jesus did exactly what He tells us to do in Matthew 5:16:

Matthew 5:16 NIV

[16] In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

The blind man had faith in Jesus, so Jesus healed him, performing a good work. Then the man and the crowd praised God.

Jesus let His light shine by His good deeds he carried out and the people praised God for it. See? The perfect example on how to live out our lives.

When we show love for others by helping them, then we are walking or living as Jesus did, and they will praise God for it. They will be drawn to God, which is our hope for all people. Then maybe they will be saved. Remember, "Love never fails."

See? Simple account. Big lesson. Love it!!

Love you all dear readers,
