Who We Are In Christ

When we got saved, we were included in Christ, clothed with Christ, made alive in Christ with the new life we have as Christians. We are adopted as sons and daughters in Christ. The Holy Spirit lives inside us now to guide and direct us. This is so awesome. Look at this passage to explain things:

Ephesians 1:3-14 NIV

[3] Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. [4] For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love [5] he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— [6] to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. [7] In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace [8] that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, [9] he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, [10] to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. [11] In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, [12] in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. [13] And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, [14] who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

With this new life we are made alive with Christ so God will be glorified through us and in God's eyes we are seated with Him in heavenly realms already in Christ Jesus. Can you say mind blown? It's a done deal as far as God is concerned. We are seated in the heavenly realms with Him already:

Ephesians 2:1-7 NIV

[1] As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, [2] in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. [3] All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. [4] But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, [5] made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. [6] And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, [7] in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

So, with God richly blessing us with His neverending love and grace, let's see what else we are in Christ Jesus

1. We are made perfect and holy once and for all in Christ. What? Really? That's what the blood of Jesus did for us. That's what God said.

Hebrews 10:10, 14 NIV [10] And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

[14] For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

2. We are children of God, adopted into His heavenly family/kingdom.

John 1:12-13 NIV

[12] Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— [13] children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

1 John 3:1a. NIV [1] See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!...

3. We are in the royal priesthood, we are members of the holy nation. How cool is that?

1 Peter 2:9-10 NIV

[9] But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. [10] Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

4. Our citizenship is in heaven now.

Philippians 3:20 NIV

[20] But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

5. Our names are written in heaven now as members of the Church. Again, mind blown!!!

Hebrews 12:23 NIV

[23] to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

6. We are holy, unblameable, unreprovable in HIS sight or as far as He is concerned. If we continue in our faith. Yes, always have faith. Always know who you are in Christ.

Colossians 1:21-23 NIV

[21] Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. [22] But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— [23] if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

7. Our names are written in the "Lamb's Book of Life."

Revelation 3:5 NIV

[5] The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.

8.We belong to Jesus no matter what! This is astounding!

John 6:37-40 NIV

[37] All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. [38] For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. [39] And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. [40] For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

9. We are all children of God by faith and we are heirs of the promise of Abraham.

Galatians 3:26-29 NIV

[26] So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, [27] for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. [28] There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. [29] If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 4:4-7 NIV

[4] But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, [5] to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. [6] Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” [7] So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

10. We belong to Jesus forever!! We will never perish!!

John 10:27-29 NIV [27] My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. [28] I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. [29] My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

John 5:24 NIV

[24]  “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will never be condemned, but has crossed over from death to life.

Okay that's just a taste of who we are in Christ Jesus. I don't know about you guys but this filled my heart with joy. Read these often and remind yourself, renew your mind to these truths. Don't let Satan deceive you by trying to tell you something different. This who we are!!!!!
