Text: Matthew 18:3 NIV-[3] And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
What did Jesus mean when He said this?
As Christians, when we are born again, we are ADOPTED into God's family, our eternal, spiritual family which is the kingdom of heaven or some passages say the "kingdom of God."
God the Father becomes our new parent. We have a physical family on earth that is temporary and we have a family in heaven which is eternal.
He is saying here that we must become LIKE a child toward our heavenly parent, God the Father.
A child is solely dependent on its parents. A child doesn't have to worry about a thing, all its need are met by the parents. A child lives a carefree life as it trusts its parents for everything in its life. A child is happy. A child is at peace. A child is free. A child trusts its parents. A child loves its parents. (I am reminded of my daughter when she was 2 or 3, just running and playing in the yard. Smiling and laughing without a care in the world.)
He wants us to love Him, depend solely upon Him, trust solely in Him, live in His presence.
He wants us to live without a care in the world, knowing He will take care of us and do what's best for us, and that He will always love us no matter what.
We'll always be a member of this heavenly family, just like we are always a member of our earthly family.
We are forever adopted into this family and God has put His seal of ownership in us, which is the Holy Spirit who lives in us now (Eph.1:13-14).
As Christians, He adopted us. He is our spiritual Father, our heavenly Parent. We are His children in our new family, the kingdom of God.
Just like a child with its Earthly parents, we don't have to have a care in the world. We are free. We are loved. We are cared for. We are His sons and daughters forever!!!!
Thank you Father in Jesus' name!!!
