Be Available!

In my study today, Jesus feeds 5,000 men + women and and children. So, some think it was around 15,000 people altogether. There are a few important lessons here to discuss. Let's take a look...

John 6:1-13 NIV

[1] Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), [2] and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. [3] Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. [4] The Jewish Passover Festival was near. [5] When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” [6] He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. [7] Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” [8] Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, [9] “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” [10] Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). [11] Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. [12] When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” [13] So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

Okay, this big crowd followed Jesus because the miraculous signs he had been performing as he healed the sick. Great lesson here. People read about these miracles today and follow Jesus because of it. He still impacts people today.

Next, Jesus knew what he was going to do but he asked Philip about feeding the people. Philip, frustrated, said there was no way to give anyone just a bite. Lesson? What we initially think is impossible is never impossible with God. Jesus said in another instance, "All things are possible for the one who believes." God is not limited in power or might and can do any 'ol thing He wants to do at any given time. We just have to trust Him and believe Him for it, which is what the apostles had no choice but to do. Something everyone saw as an impossibility was nothing for Jesus.

Next we see Andrew bring a little boy to Jesus who had 5 small barley loaves and 2 small fish. Jesus used what was presented to him to perform this huge miracle. Big lesson here!! Whatever you and I have, God will use it. He will use it, multiply it, and make it whatever it needs to be to serve his purpose. You and I might look at the contents that make up our lives and doubt that God could use any of it. Wrong answer! He will use whatever each and every one of us has to give. We just have to be available. We have to give whatever we have to Him to use to serve others, whether it be time, attention, talents, resources, or just whatever your life has to offer. Be available and give it to Him to use and He will. He will use it and multiply it in ways you never thought possible. Just be available. Remember, God wants all people to be saved and go to heaven. He uses you and I to make that possible. We represent Jesus. So just be available. Put whatever you have in God's hands and watch Him use it, multiply it to save people! Watch what He will do with your life!!

As the Church, there are billions of ways we can show the world the love of Jesus! One person at a time.

"All things are possible for the one who believes!"

Love you all dearest readers,
