Do You Need A Miracle?

Do you need a miracle in your life? Do you need God to intervene in your life now? Do you need the impossible to be possible? Jesus said that everything is possible for the one who believes!!

Mark 9:23 NIV

[23]  “ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

God keeps pressing upon me the thought that if we want God to work in our lives, if we want Him to perform a miracle in our lives, then we have to have faith (believe that He can and He will do what we need) and then have obedience on our end (do whatever we have to do). Kind of like this formula:

Faith (trust and belief) + Obedience (doing our part) = Miracle

In today's text we see exactly that:

John 9:1-11 NIV

[1] As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. [2] His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” [3]  “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. [4] As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. [5] While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

[6] After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. [7] “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

[8] His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” [9] Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” [10] “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. [11] He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”

This is another of many examples. In this example, the man didn't even ask to be healed. Jesus did it because the Father told him to. So that God would be glorified.

However, just like many examples out there, the person had to believe Jesus could do it, and then Jesus required an act of obedience on their part before the miracle came. In this instance, Jesus put mud on his eyes and then told him to go wash it off in the Pool of Siloam. The man did what he was told and came back seeing. See? Faith+Obedience= Miracle.

If you need something in your life, as Christians, then ask God in prayer, believe He will do it, and then go do your part, everything on your end, and this opens it up for Him to work in your life. He loves us and wants to work in our lives!!!

This is done time and time again throughout the Bible.

-God gave the Israelites manna from heaven, but they had to go out and gather it.

-God pushed the Red Sea open, but the Israelites had to walk through it to be saved from the Egyptian Army.

-Naaman had leprosy and God wanted to heal him of it, but Naaman had to go wash in the Jordan River 7 times for the miracle to happen.

-The Israelites had to march around the walls of Jericho 7 times before they took the city.

-Peter wanted to walk on water, but he had to step out of the boat for the miracle to happen.

-Jesus had the servants act by pouring water into the jars before he turned it into wine.

-The apostles had to take the food to the people as he multiplied it for over 15,000 people (5000 men + women and children).

-The invalid man of 38 years at the pool of Bethesda. Jesus asked, "Do you want to get well?" Then Jesus said, "Take up your mat and walk!" Then he acted! He did what Jesus said! Poof! Miracle!!

-God feeds the birds everyday, but they have to go gather it everyday.

-Farmers plant their crops, God does what He does, and then farmers go out and gather their harvest.

See? Time after time, God will work miracles in our lives as we believe that He will and then do all He requires on our end to make it happen.

So, Faith + Obedience= Miracle!!!

Love you dear readers,
